In 3000sqft is filmed in a derelict ‘Peacocks’ clothes retail outlet amidst abandoned clothes rails, shop debris and unfulfilled gift cards. On the smooth linoleum floors a group of local skater’s practise stunts, a cyclist does laps and a dancer rehearses a routine, the energy of their movements producing sounds that merge rhythmically within the activated space. Concerns emerge around the use of urban space as a space for recreation and the value of pleasure, enjoyment, exchange and joy - simple yet potent pleasures that the film invites the viewer to participate in. The film is accompanied by the sounds recorded in the space and music that played throughout filming. The film contains subtitles and minimal text.
