The Sound of That Place is a film and audio soundscape of Crossness Nature Reserve, Bexley and the nearby Ridgeway that collages 8 people’s unique perspectives taken through films, photos, narration and interviews as they were invited to walk independently in the area and to respond to their environment. The digital works are the result of 10 consecutive months of frequenting and documenting the sounds, feel and visual fabric of the area as new discoveries shift into focus with the changing seasons. The digital work can be watched online at home, bringing the outdoors in or it can be listened to on a personal mobile device with headphones in the Nature Reserve itself.
Crossness Nature Reserve is sandwiched between industrial units and the Thames on the periphery of London town. It is accessible by train from Belvedere station via a footpath from Norman Road, or along the Thames Path, or by walking along the Ridgeway from Plumstead Train station.
Shown as part of Estuary 2021 May 22nd - 13th June.
