Place Description is filmed using a Super 8 camera with digital sound and text. It explores the multiple ways of describing a place and the complications of favouring one mode of language over another to deduce meaning. The pairing of text, images, and what appear as subtitles jostle for attention with the audio soundtrack that features a poem based on the history of the place, words that describe the plant leaves and foliage and descriptions of the textures and surfaces captured through the camera’s lens.
